Wetlands Preservation, Inc. AcquisitionApril 13, 2020

Lucas Environmental, LLC has acquired Wetlands Preservation, Inc. (WPI), a wetland consulting firm based out of Boxford, Massachusetts and Plaistow, New Hampshire.  As of January 30, 2020, this acquisition enhances LE’s capabilities, environmental consulting expertise, and resources, in addition to providing a stronger local presence north of Boston.

Under the leadership of Curtis Young, for over 34 years WPI has provided high quality, scientifically based, environmental consulting services to individuals, corporations, and local, state and federal government agencies related to wetland issues associated with residential, commercial, and industrial development throughout Massachusetts.  Mr. Young will continue to provide wetland consulting services to LE.  Joseph Orzel, senior wetland scientist formerly of WPI is now part of the LE team working in the North Shore area and Southern New Hampshire.

This acquisition will add to the environmental planning and permitting experience of Lucas Environmental.

Welcome Joseph OrzelApril 13, 2020

Joseph Orzel joined the Lucas Environmental team last year. Joseph is a Professional Wetland Scientist (PWS) and has assisted clients with environmental permit issuance at the federal, state, and local levels since 1994.  Joe holds a B.S. in Biology from the State University of New York College at Fredonia, and completed research and coursework requirements toward an M.S. in Wildlife Ecology from the University of New Hampshire. Joe routinely conducts wetland delineations and identification of regulated wetland resource areas, as well as natural resource site assessments, wildlife habitat assessments, and has conducted fisheries research and radio-telemetry. Joe’s project experience ranges from construction, planting, and monitoring of wetland restoration/replication areas to environmental and construction monitoring.  Joe is also experienced in vernal pool evaluations, and performs peer reviews of permit applications for various municipalities. Joe technical expertise includes wetland delineation, wildlife habitat evaluations, vernal pool surveys, and rare species work.

COVID-19 UpdateApril 10, 2020

Lucas Environmental is following all state orders and CDC recommendations related to the COVID-19 pandemic. LE is committed to the protection of our team and contractors. As such, our team is working remotely and ready to continue serving our existing (and future) clients. We are continuing with field work with safety measures in place to ensure the staff are not at risk. Our office is currently closed per the state’s order; however, we have access to all files and equipment if needed. If you have any questions, reach out to any of our employees.
